DataForce by TransPerfect Review 2026: Real Rates

DataForce Review | getAIwork

By Mufy Pachorawala, founder of getAIwork · Last updated: September 24, 2026

DataForce is TransPerfect’s AI data division, and it is the rare vendor in this category that publishes actual dollar figures before you apply. Sixteen live projects on September 24, 2026, each with a stated rate, a named payment method and a payout window in business days. It also publishes, without comment, a 1.87 times pay spread for the same task in different languages.

Key facts, checked September 24, 2026

  • 16 live contributor projects, every one carrying a published rate except the voice casting calls
  • Published payout windows: gift card 7 to 10 business days, PayPal or check 10 to 15, wire transfer 14 to 17
  • One published threshold: wire transfer only for payments over $50 USD
  • Five payment methods named: wire transfer, PayPal, check, Tremendous gift card, Western Union
  • Parent company: TransPerfect, billed revenue $1.32 billion in 2025, its own press release
  • No contributor terms of use exists that we could find, on any TransPerfect property
  • Our board currently lists 1,662 live AI listings, free at getaiwork.com/board/

What is DataForce by TransPerfect?

DataForce is a division, not a company. There is no DataForce legal entity: the footer of dataforce.ai says copyright 2026 TransPerfect, and the privacy notice that actually governs contributors names TransPerfect Translations International Inc. in New York as the data controller, with TransPerfect Translations B.V. in Amsterdam as the EU representative. TransPerfect acquired a market-research firm called Skilltelligence in May 2021 and folded it into DataForce, according to its own press release.

The parent is large. TransPerfect published 2025 billed revenue of $1.32 billion, up 7 percent, in a press release dated March 5, 2026. It credits that growth to ten acquisitions and to its GlobalLink, media, legal and consulting lines. DataForce is not mentioned in the body of that release at all, which is worth noting given that the equivalent 2024 release had called DataForce “a key driver of growth”. Companies reshuffle their narratives constantly and this may mean nothing. It is still the sort of thing to notice before you decide a division is where your next year of work comes from.

How much does DataForce actually pay?

Here is where DataForce is genuinely better than its competitors, and we would rather say that plainly than manufacture a complaint. Most vendors in this category publish nothing. Sigma AI publishes no rate on any of its 79 postings. Outlier publishes no rate at all. DataForce publishes a dollar figure on the project page, before you apply, in the project description. Every figure below is quoted as listed by the vendor on September 24, 2026, and none of it is a promise of earnings.

Live project Rate, as listed Scope, as listed
Freelance short story, Korean $628 USD per accepted story about 3,900 words
Freelance short story, English US $468 USD, or $312 about 6,000 or 4,000 words
Freelance short story, Polish $418 USD about 6,000 words
Freelance short story, Hindi $250 USD about 6,000 words
Audio collection, English and Spanish $85 USD for all accepted tasks plus a $20 bonus on the Spanish variant
Speech tasks, France $30 USD per accepted task both tasks plus $15 bonus equals $75
Speech collection, US minors $40 USD per accepted audio set per child
Remote photo collection, Japan $1 USD per accepted photo vendor example: 50 accepted photos

All figures as listed on DataForce project pages on September 24, 2026. Projects rotate, and a rate disappears from the internet when its project closes.

The English US short story page is the only one that also publishes a time estimate, and it is the single most useful thing on the whole site: “approximately 16.75 hours (for ~6,000 words) OR 11.25 hours (for ~4,000 words) over a 2-week period”. Do that arithmetic against the listed rates and you get roughly $28 an hour on both, as listed. The non-English pages carry no time estimate, so the same sum cannot be done for them, which matters more than it looks. See below.

When does DataForce pay, and through what?

Its FAQ names five methods: “wire transfer, PayPal, check, Tremendous gift card, or Western Union”, depending on your location. Payment timing is published per project and counted from acceptance of your delivery, not from submission.

Method Published window Notes, as published
Tremendous gift card 7 to 10 business days Fastest. Redemption options “may include associated fees”
PayPal or check 10 to 15 business days “Please ensure you accept payments from TransPerfect to avoid PayPal returning the funds”
Wire transfer 14 to 17 business days Only for payments over $50 USD. Your bank may charge a transfer fee
Wire transfer, Hindi, Korean and Japan projects 20 to 30 business days Same rail, roughly double the wait, unexplained
Western Union 14 to 17 business days Published on the Turkish project, which offers no PayPal

There is a step before any of that, and it is the one people trip over. DataForce’s FAQ states: “You must first receive the Quality Check results to confirm your compensation. The Quality Check timeline will be provided in your Welcome to the Project email and varies by project (e.g., it can be 2 weeks or 6 weeks). After receiving the Quality Check results the payment terms begin.” So a six-week quality check plus a seventeen-business-day wire is a real possible outcome, and the clock on the second one does not start until the first one ends. Budget for it.

Tax paperwork is published too: a W-8 if you live outside the US, a W-9 once your US income reaches $600 in a calendar year. You do not need to invoice, which removes a step that several competitors still require.

The same task pays 1.87 times more in English than in Hindi

This is the finding, and it comes entirely from DataForce’s own project pages, live on the same day. The freelance short story project is described in near-identical wording across eight language pages. For roughly 6,000 words: English US $468, Spanish US $468, Polish $418, Turkish $335, Afrikaans $300, Hindi $250. Same published scope, same deliverable description, a spread of about 1.87 times between the top and the bottom.

There are defensible reasons a vendor might price this way. Local cost of living, the size of the qualified writer pool in each language, what the end client is paying for that language. None of them is published. DataForce does not explain the spread anywhere, and it does not publish a time estimate on the non-English pages, so a Hindi writer cannot work out their implied hourly rate the way an English writer can from the same project.

What to do with this. If you are applying from outside the highest-paying language markets, do the arithmetic yourself before you accept. Ask the project coordinator directly for the expected time commitment, which the English page proves DataForce knows and can state. Then compare per hour, not per deliverable. A $250 story at 16 hours is a different job from a $250 story at 6 hours, and the page does not tell you which one you are being offered.

How do you sign up for DataForce?

Not on dataforce.ai. The paths /join, /careers, /contributors and /work-with-us all return 404. The working route is dataforce.ai/community, which redirects to dataforcecommunity.transperfect.com. From there the Register Now button sends you to a third domain, hub.transperfect.com, where account management lives. Two hops, three domains, and the vendor’s own footer is the only place that links the first one.

The contributor project board is a Drupal site with no posting or expiry dates on any project page, so you cannot tell how stale a listing is. One current project states it is “estimated to start during the week of Aug 31, 2026”, which is the only date signal we found anywhere on the board.

The country picker on that board carries 241 options. We diffed it: Iran, Cuba, Syria, North Korea and South Sudan are absent, while Russia, Belarus, Venezuela, Myanmar, Afghanistan and Sudan are present. The pattern tracks US sanctions jurisdictions, but DataForce states no sanctions policy anywhere, so treat that as our reading of a form, not as a published rule.

What DataForce does not publish

  • No terms of use for contributors. We could not find one on any TransPerfect property. The /terms path on dataforce.ai returns 403, and the community site footer has no terms link
  • No last-updated date on the vendor privacy notice that governs contributors. The parent privacy policy says “Effective: April 2025”, month only
  • No account-balance payout minimum other than the $50 wire transfer floor
  • No posting or expiry dates on contributor project pages
  • No stated country eligibility policy, only a form whose options imply one
  • No explanation of the language pay spread
  • No gift card redemption fee figures, only a warning that fees “may” apply

One smaller thing that we enjoyed more than we should have: the FAQ page that documents payments carries the page title “FAQ Test | DataForce Community”. A test-page title shipped to production on the document contributors rely on to find out when they get paid. Its two payment flow diagrams both end in a box reading “Payment received within the communicated timeline”, with no timeline in either image. The actual numbers exist, they are just on the project pages instead.

Is DataForce worth it?

Yes, with the same caveat that applies to every project-based vendor: the work is episodic, not a job. DataForce publishes more about pay than almost anyone else in this category, which means you can make an informed decision before you spend time, and that is worth a great deal. The writing projects in particular list rates that stand up next to general freelance writing work, as listed. What you cannot do is plan a month around it, because a project closes and its rate disappears with it.

Practical advice if you apply. Pick the method with the shortest published window you can actually use, because the gap between a gift card at 7 to 10 business days and a wire at 20 to 30 is most of a month. Ask for the time estimate if your project page does not carry one. And read the quality check timeline in your welcome email on day one, because it is the number that decides when you get paid, and it is the number nobody reads until they are wondering where the money is.

Frequently asked questions

Is DataForce legit?

DataForce is a brand of TransPerfect, not a separate company. The dataforce.ai footer reads copyright 2026 TransPerfect, and the privacy notice that governs contributors names TransPerfect Translations International Inc. at 1250 Broadway, 32nd Floor, New York. TransPerfect published billed revenue of $1.32 billion for 2025. It is a real and large employer of freelance language workers.

How much does DataForce pay?

It varies by project and DataForce publishes the figure on each project page, which is unusual in this category. Live examples on September 24, 2026: a Korean short story at $628 as listed, an English US short story at $468 for roughly 6,000 words, a Japan photo collection project at $1 per accepted photo, and a French speech task at $30 per accepted task. These are figures the vendor lists, not earnings anyone is promised.

What is DataForce’s payout threshold?

There is one published threshold and it applies to a single method: wire transfer is only available for payments exceeding $50 USD, in DataForce’s own words. No account-balance minimum is published for the other methods.

How long does DataForce take to pay?

DataForce publishes payout windows per project, counted from acceptance of your delivery. Gift card is 7 to 10 business days, PayPal or check is 10 to 15 business days, and wire transfer is 14 to 17 business days. On the Hindi, Korean and Japan projects the wire transfer window is published as 20 to 30 business days instead.

How do you sign up for DataForce?

Through two hops off the main site. dataforce.ai/community redirects to dataforcecommunity.transperfect.com, and the Register Now button there sends you to hub.transperfect.com. The DataForce domain itself has no signup, and /join, /careers, /contributors and /work-with-us all return 404.

Does DataForce have terms of use for contributors?

No. We could not find one. The dataforce.ai footer legal block carries only opt out, data privacy, imprint, sitemap, accessibility and do not sell my info. The /terms path returns 403. The community site’s footer has no terms link. The vendor privacy notice that does cover contributors carries no last-updated date.

Why does DataForce pay different amounts for the same task?

It does not explain. Its own project pages describe the same freelance short story deliverable at roughly 6,000 words in near-identical wording, and list $468 for English US and Spanish US, $418 for Polish, $335 for Turkish, $300 for Afrikaans and $250 for Hindi. That is a spread of about 1.87 times on identical published scope, all as listed by the vendor.
