Microsoft AI Careers: Its Job Board and the UHRS Route

An adult working from home researching remote microsoft ai careers on a laptop at a wooden desk.

Microsoft AI careers come in two very different shapes. On 14 October 2026 Microsoft’s careers site listed 2,347 open postings and a search for AI matched 2,154 of them, while Microsoft AI, the Copilot group, listed 64 roles of its own. The other route is contract data work on UHRS, reached only through a vendor such as Clickworker or OneForma.

Listen to this article, about 15 minutes. A synthetic voice reads the article and announces each section title as it begins; tables are read row by row and the questions at the end are left out.

Recorded 14 October 2026 from the article as published that day. Press a chapter to jump there; the highlighted line is what is playing. A play button sits beside every section heading, and once you scroll past this player a bar at the bottom of the screen keeps the controls in reach. Tap or click any sentence to hear the reading start from there.

On this page: Microsoft’s careers site and Microsoft AI’s own page read on 14 October 2026, with the 64 Microsoft AI roles counted by discipline, the qualifications and base pay ranges of five AI postings as listed, the UHRS vendor rules from Clickworker and OneForma, and what two r/UHRSwork threads report.

Think you already know this? Five questions, one minute.

Every answer is on this page. Answer from what you know now; the page fills in the rest.

  1. 1. On 14 October 2026, how many of Microsoft’s 2,347 open postings matched a search for AI?

  2. 2. Which locations did Microsoft AI’s 64 roles carry on 14 October 2026?

  3. 3. What words follow the degree requirement in all five Microsoft AI postings the article read?

  4. 4. According to Clickworker’s help page, how long do UHRS earnings take to become payable after they are credited?

  5. 5. What did the returning worker in the October 2026 r/UHRSwork thread report by 10 October?

How many AI jobs does Microsoft’s careers site list?

Fewer than the search box suggests. We read Microsoft’s careers site on 14 October 2026: it held 2,347 open postings in total, and a search for AI matched 2,154 of them, which is 92% of everything. That is not because nine in ten Microsoft jobs are AI jobs. It is because AI now appears somewhere in nearly every posting Microsoft writes, and the unfiltered list opens with a data centre technician and a retail partner marketing manager. The search is a mood, not a count.

The top ten results for AI show what the word means there now. Four were specialists selling AI Business Solutions in Dublin and Tokyo, two were solution engineers, one was a director of AI infrastructure strategy, one a technology consultant, and only two were engineers building AI products. Much of Microsoft’s AI titled work is selling and deploying Copilot and Azure AI, not training models.

The model building sits mostly in one group. Microsoft AI’s careers page, the organisation behind Copilot and the consumer AI products, listed 64 roles on the same day: 52 on Microsoft AI teams and 12 in Health, with titles such as Safety Post-training and Reinforcement Learning for Frontier AI Models. Its own discipline filter put 34 of them in engineering, 9 in operations and strategy, 8 in research and modelling, 5 in programme management, 4 in product management and 3 in design.

Microsoft posts on its own site, which is why our free, public board carried only one Microsoft listing out of 1,767 live on 14 October 2026: a Principal AI Evaluations Platform Engineer in the United Kingdom, marked advanced. The board’s stats.json, updated 13 October, shows the whole board leaning the same way, with 1,117 advanced listings against 221 beginner ones.

Where are Microsoft’s AI jobs based, and is India on the list?

Mostly around Seattle and the Bay Area, with India the clearest cluster outside the US. Microsoft’s location filter covers the whole careers site rather than the AI search, and on 14 October 2026 it showed Redmond on 766 postings, a multi location United States tag on 272 and Mountain View on 233. Bengaluru carried 131 and Hyderabad 114, the only cities outside the US in the top ten apart from Tokyo on 98. Atlanta had 107, Austin 80, New York 79 and Reston 71.

One posting can name several offices, so these are tags, not separate jobs. For readers in India the answer is yes, Microsoft hires there in numbers, for salaried campus roles with the same experience bars as Redmond. Microsoft AI’s own page is narrower again: its 64 roles carried location tags for Mountain View (42), London (18), New York (18), Redmond (16) and Zurich (7), and none for India.

What do Microsoft AI postings ask for, and what do they pay as listed?

Years of experience, mostly, and a degree or the equivalent. We opened five of the top AI results on 14 October 2026 and read their qualifications. Every one asked for a set number of years. The US Solution Engineer posting for Cloud and AI software wants a bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of technical pre-sales or consulting, or 3 or more years with no degree. The Principal AI Platform Engineer posting in Copilot Engineering wants 6 or more years of engineering with coding. The Director, AI Infrastructure Strategy posting wants 8 or more years alongside a bachelor’s degree. The Singapore solution engineer and the Netherlands technology consultant want 5 and 6 or more years.

Two details in those postings are worth knowing. All five follow their degree requirement with the words OR equivalent experience, so on paper a degree is not a hard gate. And only one, the Netherlands consultant, mentioned certifications at all, listing technical certifications such as Azure among its preferred qualifications rather than its required ones.

Pay is written straight here, because it is the part people chase. Microsoft prints a base pay range on its US postings and links its US pay and benefits page. These are the ranges as listed on 14 October 2026; they are ranges for the role level, not offers, and nothing here is a promise about what anyone will be paid.

Can you do AI work for Microsoft without a degree?

Yes, but not as a Microsoft employee, and not at Microsoft’s rates. UHRS, the Universal Human Relevance System, is Microsoft’s own crowdsourcing platform for labeling and rating data, and Microsoft does not let individuals sign up for it directly. You join a vendor partner, the vendor tests you, and the vendor pays you. Our UHRS guide checked the vendor terms in September and found Microsoft sends every payment question back to the vendor.

Clickworker’s qualification page says you need at least 80% on the first part of its UHRS assessment, an English test, and adds that you cannot repeat it. Clickworker’s payment page says UHRS earnings take 39 days after they are credited before they become payable, a window in which UHRS can still reject work. OneForma’s help centre says UHRS appears as a tile under Work Platforms in your Tasks area only when your project gives you access, and that Payoneer must be your default payment method before you start UHRS production work. Rates are set per task, change often, and nothing about them is guaranteed.

What do people doing UHRS work through the vendors report?

We read two threads on Reddit’s r/UHRSwork, from August and October 2026, with 29 comments between them. What follows is what people report, paraphrased, and it is testimony rather than evidence of what UHRS pays.

The October 2026 thread is a returning worker keeping a diary. After more than a year away they logged back in on 1 October, found five task types available, and posted an update every two days as they vanished one by one, until on 10 October they reported the dashboard empty. They worked the Latin American Spanish market and said others may differ; a reply from Brazil reported no work at all. Their parting advice: look at vetted AI training platforms, and never share or create accounts for anyone else.

The August 2026 thread began with a new worker who saw only two task types, both paying cents per item, one of which sent them to broken links. The replies split. A Clickworker judge said they work it steadily as a home job while caring for a relative, and that a higher verified judge tier came by email invitation; a worker of six years in South America said that tier is offered only in some markets such as the US and they had never been invited. A user of twelve years called this year one of their best, yet would not advise anyone to start now, because many of the best opportunities are closed to new users. A new OneForma worker reported a fake OneForma page that tried to make them paste a command into Windows.

The accounts agree with the vendor pages on structure: the vendor decides access, and work depends on your country and language. What the forum adds is how wide that variation is, and a warning about fake log in pages that no help centre mentions.

How do you spot a fake Microsoft AI job offer?

Check that the job is on Microsoft’s own site, and refuse anything that asks you to pay. Microsoft’s own fraud report, Cyber Signals Issue 9 from April 2025, lists employment offers that request payment, offers that seem too good to be true, unsolicited offers or interview requests over text message and a lack of formal communication platforms as signs of fraud. It also says that if a job requires upfront payments for training materials, certifications or background checks, it is likely a scam.

Put plainly: a Telegram recruiter offering a Copilot trainer job after a chat only interview is not Microsoft hiring. If the title is not on the careers site, it is not a Microsoft job, and rating work comes from a vendor under the vendor’s own name.

Before you send your CV anywhere, the match quiz takes two minutes and shows which kinds of AI work fit your background, and the work board is free and public with no signup, so you can watch real listings from screened sources yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Does Microsoft hire AI trainers directly?

Not through its careers site. Rating and labeling work for Microsoft runs on UHRS, which individuals reach through vendor partners such as Clickworker and OneForma. The vendor tests you, sets your access and pays you.

Can I join UHRS without going through a vendor?

No. There is no public sign up for UHRS. Vendors grant access after their own checks; Clickworker, for example, requires at least 80% on a one attempt English assessment, according to its help page.

How long does UHRS pay take through Clickworker?

Clickworker’s payment page says UHRS earnings take 39 days after they are credited to your balance before they become payable, and UHRS can reject work during that window. Payment timing then depends on the method you chose.

Is Microsoft AI the same as Microsoft?

Microsoft AI is a group inside Microsoft that builds Copilot and consumer AI. It runs its own careers page at microsoft.ai/careers, which listed 52 Microsoft AI roles and 12 Health roles on 14 October 2026.

Does Microsoft hire for AI roles in India?

Microsoft hires in India in numbers: on 14 October 2026 its careers site carried 131 Bengaluru and 114 Hyderabad location tags across all postings. Microsoft AI, the Copilot group, listed no role in India that day.

Is a Microsoft certification required for these jobs?

Not in the five postings we read on 14 October 2026. One listed technical certifications such as Azure as preferred, none as required. Microsoft’s own fraud guidance says a job that demands an upfront payment for certifications is likely a scam.
