Cohere AI careers run through one public board. On October 6, 2026, Cohere’s own Ashby job board listed 135 roles, mostly in Canada and the United States, and every US based posting showed a pay range. Three are part time annotation contracts, open in Canada only, at CAD $30 or $40 an hour as listed.

What does Cohere’s own job board list today?
Cohere builds large language models for businesses and governments rather than a consumer chatbot, and its postings describe it as headquartered in Toronto with offices in London, New York, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul. Its careers page says it posts roles only on its Ashby job board and on LinkedIn, so that board is the record.
We read every posting on it through Ashby’s public API on October 6, 2026 and counted 135. Sorted by the department each posting names, they break down like this.
| Department on Cohere’s board | Open roles | Example posting |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue (sales and solutions) | 36 | Senior Account Executive, Financial Services |
| Engineering and infrastructure | 31 | Forward Deployed Engineer, Agentic Platform |
| Modeling (research) | 26 | Member of Technical Staff, Modeling |
| Business operations | 10 | Contract Manager |
| Product and program management | 9 | Staff Technical Program Manager |
| PR and communications | 5 | Director, Corporate Communications |
| Inference, IT, security, people, policy | 12 | IT Support Specialist |
| Internships | 3 | Machine Learning Intern or Co-op, Winter 2027 |
| Data Quality (Contract) | 3 | Data Annotation Specialist, Generalist |
| Total | 135 | Read October 6, 2026 |
Two things stand out. First, 128 of the 135 are full time, three are internships and only four are contracts, one of them a procurement role. Second, the board is mostly fresh: 118 postings were published in 2026 and 52 since September 1, though one research posting has been open since November 2024, which is less a vacancy than a standing invitation to very good researchers.
Where are Cohere jobs based, and can you work remotely?
Counting each posting by its primary location, 41 sit in the United States, 37 in Canada and 18 in the United Kingdom, with the rest spread across Germany, France, the UAE, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Sweden and Spain. Toronto alone is the main location on 22. Many postings add second locations, so 78 can be done from somewhere in Canada and 74 from somewhere in the US.
Remote is common here. 93 postings are marked remote, 30 hybrid, eight on site and four say nothing. Remote still means remote within a country, though: the annotation contracts, for example, say remote work within Canada. No posting named India on October 6, 2026. If you are in India, the AI generalist jobs guide covers the listings our board finds there, and the Scale AI careers guide covers a contractor route that reaches more countries.

What do Cohere roles pay, as listed?
Cohere prints pay on 89 of its 135 postings, and the pattern follows geography: all 41 US based postings carry a range, 31 of 37 Canadian ones do, and none of the postings based in the UAE, Singapore, Japan or South Korea does. The ten UK postings that carry a figure quote Cohere’s Canadian and US tiers, not a pound figure. The examples below are copied as listed on October 6, 2026: hiring ranges that vary by location and level, not what anyone is paid.
| Role | Where | Pay as listed |
|---|---|---|
| Data Annotation Specialist, Generalist | Canada, remote, contract | CAD $30 an hour |
| Data Annotation Specialist, Data Science | Canada, remote, contract | CAD $40 an hour |
| Talent Sourcer, G&A | New York, other US states | $105,000 to $125,000; $80,000 to $100,000 |
| IT Support Specialist | Toronto, on site | CAD $115,000 to $140,000 |
| Business Development Representative | Toronto, hybrid | CAD $115,000 to $170,000 |
| Senior Security Engineer | Canada; US high cost states | CAD $260,000 to $310,000; $215,000 to $260,000 |
| Member of Technical Staff, Modeling | Toronto or Montreal; CA, NY, WA | CAD $295,000 to $535,000; $205,000 to $380,000 |
Sales roles quote on target earnings rather than base pay, which the US public sector posting says depend on performance, so read those ranges as a target that includes commission, not a base salary. For comparison, our board’s own data, updated October 5, 2026, puts the median listed hourly rate across 190 generalist and writing listings at $70 in US dollars. Cohere’s CAD $30 generalist contract sits well under that before any currency conversion. Both are listed figures; rates change and nothing is guaranteed.
If you are still deciding between a salaried AI company role and contract training work, the two minute match quiz sorts the routes by what you have already done rather than by what a course says you could do.
How do Cohere’s Data Annotation Specialist contracts work?
This is the part of Cohere most readers of this site can actually apply for, and the three postings are unusually specific. All three are part time independent contractor roles, remote within Canada only, on your own laptop, asking for 16 hours a week.
| Posting | Published | Rate as listed | Asks for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Generalist | July 24, 2026 | CAD $30 an hour | 1+ years in annotation, LLM evaluation, moderation or research; strong written English |
| Data Science | July 3, 2026 | CAD $40 an hour | 3+ years in data science; Python, pandas, SQL; 12 month contract |
| Engineering | April 28, 2026 | CAD $30 an hour | 3+ years in civil, mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering; 12 month contract |
The work is judgment, not data entry: ranking pairs of model answers against guidelines, trying to make the model fail and writing up how, and authoring prompts and model answers. The data science posting adds reviewing code and the trails left by coding agents. Each posting warns that the work can include explicit or offensive text.
The application runs in five steps, the same on all three: a talent team screen, a multiple choice assessment by email, a longer assessment in your field for those who pass, a short video call with the operations team, then an independent contractor agreement. The postings are equally plain about the terms. Contractors invoice for their hours, get no employee benefits, must declare work for direct competitors, and are told continuous work is not guaranteed and that hours, and so pay, will fluctuate.
This is not tax or legal advice. Whether a worker is an employee or an independent contractor depends on the real working relationship, not on the label in a contract. Ontario’s guide to employee status under the Employment Standards Act lists the tests it applies, and other provinces and the tax rules have their own. Read them, or ask a qualified adviser, before you sign.

What do Cohere’s contract annotators report?
Glassdoor carries a small set of reviews from Cohere’s annotation contractors, and we read every one we could reach on October 6, 2026: three, all one star. They are individual reviews, and what they describe is the reviewers’ account, not a finding about Cohere.
A Toronto contractor of under a year, reviewing in February 2025, alleged that contractors were expected to work like full time staff for below market pay, with no explanation of how their work was measured or why pay sometimes differed. Two former annotators in London, both reviewing in November 2025 after more than a year, told a matching story: decent pay and interesting work at first, then minute by minute time tracking, a new contract committing them to 16 hours a week, and then weeks with no work at all. One said the contract required the hours whether or not any were offered; the other said the team was let go on a video call of about eight minutes after two and a half years.
What cuts the other way: both London reviewers say the pay and the work were good for the first year, and Cohere’s wider Glassdoor page includes a two star review from a Toronto program manager in September 2026 who still rated it a rare chance to lead AI work in Canada. Note also that the London reviewers worked on a project one of them says was wound down; today’s three postings are Canada only. Where the reviews and the postings agree is the 16 hour commitment and the warning that work fluctuates. The postings say both in plain words, so treat those two lines as the terms, not the small print.
Which Cohere route fits which background?
The routes barely overlap, so the honest answer depends on what you already have and where you live. This table restates what Cohere’s own postings said on October 6, 2026.
| Your situation | Route that fits | What the postings ask for |
|---|---|---|
| Experienced engineer or researcher in Canada, the US or the UK | Full time role on the board | Years of role specific experience; many roles remote within a country |
| Sales or operations background | Revenue or business operations roles | 36 revenue roles, often tied to a region or sector |
| Student in Canada | Winter 2027 internships | Three internships, Canada, remote |
| Canadian resident with annotation or analytical experience | Data Annotation Specialist, Generalist | 1+ years relevant work, 16 hours a week, own laptop |
| Canadian data scientist or engineer | Data Science or Engineering contract | 3+ years industry experience and a 12 month contract |
| Outside Canada, wanting annotation work | Not Cohere, on October 6 | Annotation postings were Canada only |
If none of those rows describe you, Cohere is not the only lab with two front doors. The OpenAI careers guide, the Anthropic jobs breakdown and the Snorkel AI careers page map the same split between salaried roles and contract data work, and the free board lists contract training work by country every day.
How do you spot a fake Cohere job offer?
Cohere’s own careers page says it will never ask for payment or for third party services such as CV writing as part of hiring, and that its roles appear only on its Ashby board and LinkedIn. A searched check on October 6, 2026 found no published warning about fake recruiters using Cohere’s name specifically, which proves only that nobody has written one up yet. The Telegram recruiter hiring for every AI lab at once is not known for checking which labs exist.
The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre lists the warning signs that matter for a Canada only contract: an offer for a job you never applied for, a web mail address instead of a company domain, upfront deposits or upgrade fees, a balance you cannot withdraw, and requests to move money through your bank account. In the US, the FTC’s April 2026 consumer alert says paying to get a job is a sure sign of a scam. Cohere’s real process is a screen, two assessments and a video call, with no fee at any step, so check any offer against the board before you reply.
Before you apply anywhere, the match quiz is a quicker way to see whether data training contracts or a salaried role suit your background, and our work board is free and public, with no signup.
