AI Product Manager Jobs: 59 Live Postings and What They Ask

A woman working on her laptop at home while searching for ai product manager jobs online.

AI product manager jobs are product roles where the product runs on machine learning or a language model. On 13 October 2026 we counted 59 open postings: 28 on our screened board and 31 on the OpenAI, Anthropic and Cohere boards. None was marked beginner, and every lab posting naming a number asked for five years or more.

Listen to this article, about 16 minutes. A synthetic voice reads the article and announces each section title as it begins; tables are read row by row and the questions at the end are left out.

A play button sits beside every section heading, and once you scroll past this player a bar at the bottom of the screen keeps the controls in reach. Tap or click any sentence to hear the reading start from there.

On this page: every product manager title among the 1,711 live board listings and on the OpenAI, Anthropic and Cohere careers boards on 13 October 2026, the skills those 31 lab postings name counted one by one, pay only as listed, and what two r/ProductManagement threads report about the title.

Think you already know this? Five questions, one minute.

Every answer is on this page. Answer from what you know now; the page fills in the rest.

  1. 1. How many of the 59 AI product manager postings counted on 13 October 2026 were marked beginner?

  2. 2. How many years of product management experience does Anthropic’s Product Manager, Claude posting list as preferred?

  3. 3. Where were all 11 of OpenAI’s product manager postings located on 13 October 2026?

  4. 4. What range did OpenAI’s Product Manager, Financial Services posting list on 13 October 2026?

  5. 5. What did the March 2026 r/ProductManagement poster say many AI PM roles in India turned out to be?

How many AI product manager jobs are open right now?

Fifty nine, across four boards, and the split matters more than the total. We read every one of the 1,711 live listings on the free, public getAIwork board on 13 October 2026 and kept each title that names a product manager, product owner or product lead role. That gave 32 titles, and four were dropped because the product part was a footnote: a combined engineer, data scientist and PM hiring post, for example, or a product engineer role whose own title says it is not really a PM job. The board’s stats.json, updated 12 October 2026, shows the whole board leaning senior anyway, with 1,086 advanced listings against 212 beginner ones.

Then we read the three AI labs whose boards publish a public feed, on the same day. Anthropic’s careers board held 647 open postings and 17 product manager titles. OpenAI’s careers board held 808 postings and 11 product manager titles. Cohere’s careers board held 118 postings and 3. Those 31 lab roles do not appear on our board, because the labs post them on their own sites.

The AI data and training companies are Scale AI, Snorkel AI, micro1, Synthires and YO AI Labs, the firms that sell training data and evaluation to the labs. Their product roles sit closer to the work many readers of this site already know from AI generalist and rater listings, which is not the same as saying a rater can walk into one.

What do AI product manager postings actually ask for?

Product experience first, and then fluency with the thing being built. We searched the full text of the 31 lab postings for the skills they name, after cutting out the company introductions and benefits paragraphs that every posting repeats. Twenty five of the 31 named a minimum number of years, and not one asked for fewer than five. Anthropic’s Product Manager, Claude posting lists 8+ years of product management experience under its preferred qualifications. OpenAI’s Product Manager, API Agents posting asks for 5+ years of product management or related industry experience.

What follows the years is less glamorous than the course adverts suggest. Data, metrics and analytics came up in 19 of the 31, and so did enterprise or business customers. APIs and developer products came up in 17, safety, abuse or harm in 16, and machine learning or language models in 15. Model evaluations, the skill every AI PM course leads with, appeared in 9. SQL or Python appeared in 3. The labs are hiring people who can ship a product to a bank, and then work out how to measure whether the model inside it behaves.

The postings ask for years of product work before any AI skill.

The board listings say much the same in fewer words. Komodo Health’s Principal Product Manager, AI Products and Salient’s Lead Product Manager, AI Agents are both marked advanced. The four intermediate listings are a design led education role, a French speaking AI PM role in the UK, a product owner at YO AI Labs and a French consultancy’s AI PM post. If you want a second opinion on which kind of AI work your own background reaches before you spend a weekend on a course, the two minute match quiz sorts the salaried roles from the contract ones.

Bar chart of skills named in ai product manager jobs at OpenAI, Anthropic and Cohere on 13 October 2026
Of 31 lab product manager postings read on 13 October 2026, data and metrics and enterprise customers came up in 19 each, APIs in 17, safety in 16, machine learning or LLMs in 15, evals in 9 and SQL or Python in 3.

Is a product job at an AI lab different from one at an ordinary company?

Yes, in what the product is and who it is sold to. At a lab, the product is the model or the platform around it. Anthropic’s 17 titles include Claude, Claude Science, Research, Billing, Enterprise Privacy and six roles on safeguards, safe access, account integrity and cyber abuse. OpenAI’s 11 include API Agents, API Infrastructure, Core Models, Youth, Learning and a run of industry verticals from financial services to life sciences. These are teams that decide what the model is allowed to do and who gets to use it.

At a product company adding AI, the AI is a feature inside something that already exists: a data warehouse, a home services marketplace, a legal case tool, a search visibility product. The Staff Product Manager, SEO and AI Visibility at Luxury Presence is about how estate agents show up in AI answers. The Group Product Manager, AI Native Data Warehouse at Juniper Square is about building AI into fund administration. Same title family, very different job.

Our breakdowns of OpenAI careers and Anthropic jobs found the same pattern across every function at both labs: salaried staff, a handful of cities, and very few roles anyone can reach without years in the field.

Pick the line closest to what you can show today. Each result restates the article’s table of employer types, read on 13 October 2026, and nothing more.

This chooser scores nothing and promises nothing about hiring or pay. It restates the article’s table, and postings change.

What do AI product manager jobs pay, as listed?

Written straight, because this is the part people spend money chasing. Every figure below is the range the employer listed on the date we read it. Listed ranges are not offers, rates change, and nothing here is a promise about what anyone will be paid.

Two things stand out. The lab ranges are high and narrow because they are for senior people in San Francisco, New York and Toronto, and Anthropic’s split is short: 11 postings at one band, 5 at a higher one, and one spanning both. Ten of the 28 board listings showed no pay at all, including all three German postings, and two of the board figures that look precise, for an Amazon role and a UK recruiter’s, are aggregator estimates rather than anything the employer wrote, which is why they are not in the table. For how these sit beside engineering and research roles, our highest paying AI jobs breakdown uses the same rule: pay only as listed.

What do people chasing AI product manager roles report?

We read two threads on Reddit’s r/ProductManagement, one from March 2026 and one from August 2026, with about 73 comments between them. What follows is what people report, paraphrased, and it is testimony rather than evidence about the market.

The most discussed account came from a product manager in India who wrote in March 2026 that after 18 months building enterprise AI workflows at a Series B startup, the AI PM roles on offer kept turning out to be implementation or customer success work with an AI label: configuring prompts and conversation flows for a client’s voice bot rather than shaping the core product. Their warning was that two years under that title could leave you without the experience platform companies then ask for. A commenter asked whether these were the forward deployment or agent product manager titles appearing lately, and the poster said yes. The most upvoted reply cut the other way: the writer had watched mobile PMs, blockchain PMs and growth PMs come and go, expected every PM to be an AI PM soon, and said building the core product skills mattered more than the label. A group PM at a large tech company added that working on applications built on a model is simply product management now.

The August 2026 thread is a monthly jobs report from a PM career coach, who reported 25,905 open product manager listings worldwide drawn from LinkedIn, with remote listings down 3.4% on the month while hybrid grew. We could not check that figure against LinkedIn ourselves, so treat it as the coach’s count. Lower down, a person in India with an engineering degree, an MBA and stints in HR and wealth management said nobody was shortlisting them for AI PM roles despite building several side projects. A director of product replied that their latest PM opening drew about 300 applications, that many shared that background, and that they personally did not care about certifications. Where the forum agrees with the postings is on experience; what it adds that the postings cannot is the warning about titles that promise product work and deliver implementation.

Can you get an AI product manager job from India or without a tech background?

From India, not through these boards today. None of the 59 postings we counted was located in India: the lab roles are in the United States and Toronto, and the board’s product titles are in the US, Europe and Canada, with five open to remote applicants. The India accounts on the forum describe a market where the title exists, often on implementation work at startups, which is worth knowing before you accept one.

Without a technical background, the postings point to one honest route: be a product manager first, in an industry you know, and let the AI part arrive as features land in that product. The 23 board roles at ordinary companies want the industry before the AI. The lab roles want years in product and fluency with APIs and safety work. If you have neither yet, the closer work on the free board is the AI data and evaluation listings, which our guide to AI jobs sorts by background, and none of them is a product role.

Before you pay for an AI PM course that promises a role, the match quiz takes two minutes and shows which kinds of AI work fit what you can show today, and the work board is free and public, with no signup, so you can watch the product titles come and go yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Is AI product manager an entry level job?

Not on the boards we read. None of the 59 postings on 13 October 2026 was marked beginner, the 28 board listings were 24 advanced and 4 intermediate, and every lab posting that named a number asked for at least five years of experience.

Do AI product manager jobs require coding?

Rarely in so many words. Only 3 of the 31 lab postings mentioned SQL or Python. More asked for familiarity with APIs and developer products (17) or with machine learning and language models (15), which is understanding rather than writing code.

Do the AI labs hire product managers remotely?

A few. On 13 October 2026 Cohere’s three PM postings were marked remote from Toronto, and one Anthropic public sector role was remote friendly with travel required. All 11 OpenAI PM postings were in San Francisco, most marked hybrid.

Is an AI PM certificate enough to get hired?

The postings we read did not name any certificate. They asked for years of product experience. A director of product on r/ProductManagement in August 2026 said they personally did not care about certifications, which is one account rather than a rule.

What is a forward deployed or agent product manager?

These are newer titles for product people who work with a client to deploy an existing AI product. One forum account from March 2026 says such roles can be mostly implementation work, so it is worth asking how much time goes to the core product before accepting one.

Are there AI product manager jobs in India?

None of the 59 postings we counted on 13 October 2026 was located in India. Indian startups advertise the title, according to forum accounts from 2026, but those listings did not reach our board or the three lab boards on the day.
