If you arrived here from an advert promising Anthropic AI trainer work, that is the whole answer in four lines, and the rest of this page shows the working. The company’s hiring page and its job board are two different things, and the second one is a machine readable feed anybody can read. So we read it, counted it, and wrote down what was there.
What jobs does Anthropic actually list right now?
On 25 September 2026 the public Greenhouse feed for Anthropic returned 623 open postings. Sales is the largest function by a wide margin, which surprises people who assume an AI lab is wall to wall researchers. The table below is the full count by department, taken from the same feed on the same day. The same exercise on OpenAI’s own board the following day returned 830 postings with sales ahead of research there too.
| Department | Open postings | Lowest listed annual band |
|---|---|---|
| Sales | 124 | $116,480 to $131,040 |
| AI Research and Engineering | 69 | $210,000 and up |
| Security | 50 | $180,000 and up |
| Finance | 50 | $160,000 and up |
| Engineering and Design, Product | 48 | $270,000 and up |
| Applied AI | 48 | $200,000 and up |
| Software Engineering, Infrastructure | 44 | $320,000 and up |
| Safeguards, Trust and Safety | 42 | $190,000 and up |
| Compute | 25 | $320,000 and up |
| Technical Program Management | 24 | $290,000 and up |
| Product Management, Support and Operations | 21 | $131,040 and up |
| Legal | 18 | $170,000 and up |
| Marketing and Brand | 17 | $200,000 and up |
| People | 12 | $120,640 and up |
| Everything else (Data Science, Public Policy, Technical Education, Public Benefit, Communications, Hardware) | 31 | $230,000 and up |
The board also skews new. 572 of the 623 postings were first published in 2026, with 198 in August and 151 in the first 25 days of September. The oldest posting still open first appeared on 22 April 2024. This is a board that turns over fast, which is why any listicle quoting Anthropic role counts from six months ago is quoting fiction.

Are there any Anthropic AI trainer or data annotation jobs?
No, and this is the single most useful thing on this page. Searching all 623 posting titles on 25 September 2026 returned zero results for annotator, rater, tutor, data labeler, moderator, contractor, part time and temp. There is exactly one posting with the word trainer in it, GTM Enablement Trainer, Claude Products, which is a salaried role training Anthropic’s own sales team, not training a model.
The adverts that say otherwise are describing something real, but they have the employer wrong. Anthropic buys human feedback data from vendors rather than hiring annotators directly. Surge AI says on its own blog that Anthropic uses its reinforcement learning from human feedback platform. The people doing that work are contracted by the vendor, and they appear nowhere on Anthropic’s board, because they are not Anthropic’s employees. If that is the work you want, our Surge AI review and DataAnnotation review explain what each one actually is.
This distinction matters more than it sounds. RLHF work is a real and reachable kind of work with its own platforms and its own pay, and an Anthropic staff job is a salaried career role in San Francisco. Confusing the two is how people spend three months applying to the wrong thing. If you want a sorted view of which route fits what you already have, the two minute getAIwork match quiz asks six questions and points you at one. Everything on our work board is free to read with no signup.
What do Anthropic’s listings pay, as listed?
489 of the 623 postings printed an annual USD band on the day we read them. The lowest was the Business Development Representative role at $116,480 to $131,040 as listed. The median of all the lower bounds was $315,000, and the highest lower bound was $550,000, on the Head of Strategic Startups and two other sales leadership roles. Sales postings state that the figure is on target earnings, so it folds commission into the number.
Those are listed figures on one day, not offers, not averages and not a promise of anything. For comparison, the listed pay across the whole AI job market looks very different: on the getAIwork board data on 24 September 2026, generalist and writing roles had a median listed rate of $62 an hour across 207 listings, while licensed profession roles listed a median of $110. Our highest paying AI jobs breakdown sets those side by side.
Can you get an Anthropic job without a degree?
Every single one of the 623 postings carries the same line under Logistics: minimum education, a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The escape clause is doing real work in that sentence. Anthropic’s careers page puts it more plainly, saying about half of staff have PhDs but plenty of brilliant colleagues never went to college, and inviting candidates to point at independent research, a thoughtful blog post or open source contributions instead.
Location is the harder gate. Only 20 postings carried a Remote location type tag, against 536 tagged on site and 8 tagged hybrid with travel required. 145 postings sat in San Francisco or New York, 95 across San Francisco, New York and Seattle, 86 in San Francisco alone and 48 in London. The careers page states that most staff are in the Bay Area and come to the office regularly, and that some live further away and come in for one week a month. Visa sponsorship is offered for eligible roles.

Which routes into Anthropic’s work are actually reachable?
Three, and they are not equally open. The comparison below is built from the same day’s reads: Anthropic’s board, Anthropic’s careers page, Surge AI’s careers page and DataAnnotation’s signup page, all checked on 25 September 2026.
| Route | What it is | Open on 25 September 2026 | Pay, as listed that day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Direct staff role | One of the 623 salaried postings, mostly Bay Area, London or New York | Yes, 623 postings | 489 postings state a band, from $116,480 |
| Anthropic Fellows Program | A four month full time research programme, open to people with no prior research track record | Yes, three listings, rolling applications, a January 2027 cohort named | Weekly stipend of 3,850 USD, or 2,310 GBP, or 4,300 CAD, plus benefits |
| Vendor contractor work | Human feedback and evaluation work bought by labs from data vendors, not from Anthropic directly | DataAnnotation signup open; Surge AI’s careers page lists salaried remote roles and a consultant network | DataAnnotation’s page lists up to $75 to $125+ an hour for expert rates |
The Anthropic Fellows Program listing is the interesting one for readers who keep getting filtered out by degree screens. Its own listing says it provides funding and mentorship to promising technical talent regardless of previous experience, runs for four months full time, pays a weekly stipend of 3,850 USD, and requires full time work authorisation in the UK, the US or Canada. It is genuinely competitive and genuinely technical, and it is the only door on Anthropic’s board that does not assume a career behind you.
What do applicants report about the hiring process?
We read seven individual accounts across two Blind threads, plus one aggregate page covering 205 interviews, all of them from people describing their own application, and the pattern is slow but not silent. These are reports, not data Anthropic published, and none of them can be checked against the company’s records.
Glassdoor’s interview page, summarising 205 user submitted interviews, puts the average hiring process at 21 days across all job titles, with recruiter roles the fastest at an average of one day and AI prompt engineer roles the slowest at an average of 150 days. Interview experience was rated 36.1 percent positive, and difficulty 3.36 out of 5.
On Blind, four people posting between 5 and 8 September 2025 in one thread described waits of one to two weeks after the technical screen. One was rejected at the one week mark, and one said the wait runs until every shortlisted candidate has been interviewed. On a second Blind thread about response times between rounds, one candidate reported ten calendar days of silence after four completed rounds, and another reported reaching the team placement call on 15 May and having references checked the following week, with a promised decision date passing without word.
Where the accounts agree with the official position: nothing on Anthropic’s careers page promises a timeline, so a three week wait is not a broken promise. Where they cut against it: several accounts describe promised decision dates passing without a message, which is a communication failure rather than a slow process. Two accounts in the same threads reported faster turnarounds, so the pattern is variance rather than a uniform delay.
How do you spot a fake Anthropic recruiter?
Anthropic’s careers page states two things you can check in ten seconds. Its recruiters only contact candidates from @anthropic.com email addresses, and legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees or banking information before your first day. The company also says confirmed positions are found by going to its careers page directly, which means a listing you cannot find on that page is not a listing.
The money side is worth taking seriously. The Federal Trade Commission, in a release dated 12 December 2024, reported that overall losses to job scams tripled between 2020 and 2023, and were more than $220 million in just the first six months of 2024, with task scams estimated to account for nearly 40 percent of 2024 job scam reports. We found no dated public record of an Anthropic specific impersonation campaign, so treat this section as general precaution rather than a report of one, and the checklist above as the test.
One more sanity check before you reply to anybody. If a message offers AI trainer work at Anthropic, it is wrong on its face, because those roles do not exist on Anthropic’s board. If you want the real version of that work, our guide to every AI role type is the map, and the match quiz will narrow it to one route in two minutes. Every listing on our work board is free and public.
Is this Anthropic listing or recruiter real?
Seven checks, every one of them drawn from wording on Anthropic’s own careers page or from what its job board actually contains. Work down the list before you reply to anyone.
Ticks are saved on this device only. This checklist tests a listing against public wording, and passing it is not a guarantee about any employer.
Frequently asked questions
How many jobs does Anthropic have open?
623 postings were open on Anthropic’s public Greenhouse board on 25 September 2026. The count changes daily and 572 of those postings were first published during 2026, so any figure older than about a week is out of date.
Does Anthropic hire AI trainers or data annotators directly?
Not on its own board. A title search across all 623 open postings on 25 September 2026 found no annotator, rater, tutor, data labeler or contractor roles. Anthropic buys human feedback data from vendors such as Surge AI, which says on its own blog that Anthropic uses its platform, and those contractors are hired by the vendor.
What is the lowest paid role listed at Anthropic?
Of the 489 postings that printed an annual band on 25 September 2026, the lowest was the Business Development Representative role at $116,480 to $131,040 as listed. That is a listed band on one day, not an offer and not a typical figure.
Can you work at Anthropic remotely?
Rarely. On 25 September 2026, 20 of the 623 postings carried a Remote location type tag against 536 tagged on site. The careers page says most staff are in the Bay Area and come to the office regularly, with some coming in for one week a month.
Does Anthropic require a degree?
Every posting states a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The careers page adds that about half of staff have PhDs but plenty of colleagues never went to college, so the equivalent experience route is stated policy rather than a loophole.
How long does Anthropic take to reply to applicants?
Glassdoor’s aggregate of 205 user submitted interviews puts the average process at 21 days. Accounts posted on Blind in September 2025 described one to two week waits after the technical screen. These are self reported and Anthropic publishes no timeline of its own.
