Hugging Face Careers: Six Remote Roles and the Nvidia Deal

A woman researches huggingface careers on her laptop at a sunny kitchen table.

Hugging Face careers are posted on its own Workable board, which listed six openings on October 10, 2026: four engineering roles, two of them posted twice for the US and Europe, plus an open Wild Card application. Every posting was remote, none named India, and none listed pay. Nvidia agreed on September 3, 2026 to buy the company.

Listen to this article, about 11 minutes. A synthetic voice reads the article and announces each section title as it begins; tables are read row by row and the questions at the end are left out.

Recorded 10 October 2026 from the article as published that day. Press a chapter to jump there; the highlighted line is what is playing. A play button sits beside every section heading, and once you scroll past this player a bar at the bottom of the screen keeps the controls in reach. Tap or click any sentence to hear the reading start from there.

On this page: all six Hugging Face openings on its own Workable board read on October 10, 2026, by team, region and posting date, the Wild Card application quoted, why ZipRecruiter’s $15 an hour figure is not Hugging Face’s, and what the Nvidia deal does and does not change.

Think you already know this? Five questions, one minute.

Every answer is on this page. Answer from what you know now; the page fills in the rest.

  1. 1. How many distinct jobs were behind the six postings on Hugging Face’s Workable board on October 10, 2026?

  2. 2. Which regions did the engineering postings name on October 10, 2026?

  3. 3. When was the Wild Card application first posted?

  4. 4. How many of Hugging Face’s six postings listed a salary or hourly rate on October 10, 2026?

  5. 5. What price did Nvidia’s September 3, 2026 blog post give for Hugging Face?

How many Hugging Face careers are open right now?

Six, if you count the way the board counts. Hugging Face keeps its openings on its own Workable page, and on October 10, 2026 that page held six postings. Two pairs are the same job advertised twice, once for the United States and once for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, so the honest number of distinct jobs is four, plus one application that is not really a job at all.

That is a small list for a company whose own postings describe a platform with over 11 million users. It is also entirely technical. There is no sales role, no recruiter role, no data labelling role and nothing junior on it today. Aggregators pad the search out with other companies’ jobs that merely mention the name.

Bar chart of huggingface careers postings by team on Hugging Face's Workable board
Hugging Face’s Workable board held six postings on October 10, 2026, every one flagged remote: two each in Open Source and Product, one in Science and the Wild Card.

Is every Hugging Face job remote, and can you apply from India?

Every one of the six postings carried Workable’s remote flag on October 10, 2026. The benefits section on the engineering postings says the company has office space in New York and Paris, that it is “very distributed”, and that remote employees can visit those offices. It also lists health, dental and vision cover, parental leave, flexible paid time off and company equity for all employees.

Remote has edges, though. Each engineering role is tied to a region: three to the US and three to EMEA, with the EMEA postings filed under France. None of the six named India or anywhere in Asia, and none mentioned visa sponsorship either way. If you are in India, the Wild Card is the only door that does not name a region in its title, and it is filed under the United States. The guide to AI jobs for freshers covers what our board finds in India at entry level instead.

What is the Hugging Face Wild Card application?

It is an application for people who do not fit a posting. The Wild Card posting opens: “If you don’t see the perfect job position, just apply to this one.” It asks that you are passionate about AI and open source, enjoy ambiguity and have “done something awesome”, which it illustrates with a project, a paper, a startup or “a viral meme with source code”.

Two details matter more than the cheerful wording. It was posted on October 17, 2024 and was still open on October 10, 2026, so it is a standing inbox, not a vacancy. And it names no team, level or pay. Treat it as a way to be on file, with public work doing the talking.

One more thing applies to the other five postings. Each ends by asking applicants to begin their answer to the first application question with the words “GPU-poor and proud”, plus the hugging face emoji, as proof that a real person read the posting. It is a small test, and the postings say plainly that it is not a trick. Skimmers fail it.

What does Hugging Face pay, and why does ZipRecruiter say $15 an hour?

None of the six postings on October 10, 2026 printed a salary, an hourly rate or a range. The only compensation detail on Hugging Face’s own board is that all employees get company equity.

So where does the low number in the search results come from? A search on October 10, 2026 showed ZipRecruiter’s “Hugging Face Salary” page quoting an average of $32,151 a year, about $15.46 an hour, as of July 31, 2026. The page refused us twice, so treat that figure as unverified. Either way it describes jobs that matched the words “Hugging Face”, not Hugging Face’s own postings, and nobody maintaining PyTorch libraries is hired at that rate.

The last row is context, not a Hugging Face figure. Rates change, they are listed figures for specific postings, and nothing here is guaranteed. If you want to see which kind of AI work fits what you have already done, the two minute match quiz sorts it for you.

What does the Nvidia deal mean for Hugging Face jobs?

On September 3, 2026 Nvidia published a blog post by Jensen Huang saying it “has agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12,930,300,000” and that Hugging Face “will remain an open platform for the entire AI ecosystem”. The post says nothing about hiring. Press coverage of Nvidia’s filing, such as Adweek’s report, says about $11.9 billion goes to shareholders and up to about $1 billion to an equity retention program for Hugging Face employees who join Nvidia, with closing expected in the first half of 2027 subject to regulatory approval. We did not read the filing itself, so those terms are as reported.

For an applicant, three things follow. The deal is announced, not closed, so Hugging Face still hires on its own board. A retention pool for current staff says nothing about new hires. And hiring did not stop: the two Python engineering postings went up on September 21, 2026. Whether the remote culture survives inside a far larger company, nobody can say yet.

Does contributing to open source get you hired at Hugging Face?

It is close to the whole application. The Open-Source Machine Learning Engineer postings ask for “a public track record of open-source contributions”, such as merged pull requests, “that we can review on GitHub”. The Python engineering roles ask for experience core contributing to or maintaining open source projects, and the Voice Agents role wants substantial open source contributions to a Python library. A CV says what you did; their repositories show it.

The easy first door is narrower than people assume. On October 10, 2026 the Transformers repository had 166,951 stars and zero open issues labelled Good First Issue, with four labelled contributions welcome. Diffusers had five open good first issues and Datasets had three. The repository’s contributing guide is the place to start, and documentation fixes count. A good first issue is a starting point, not a hiring pipeline, so nobody should treat a merged pull request as a promise of an interview.

Applicants say little in public. Glassdoor’s interview page, read on October 10, 2026, held 22 interview ratings last updated October 24, 2025, summed up as a mixed experience, with 71 percent of candidates saying they applied online. The reviews sit behind a login and we found no recent public thread on the process, so we will not pretend to know what the interviews are like.

Which Hugging Face route fits your background?

The board is short, so the honest answer is often “not this board, not today”. This table restates what the six postings asked for on October 10, 2026.

Your backgroundRoute that fitsWhat the posting asks for
ML engineer with merged open source workOpen-Source ML EngineerStrong Python, PyTorch, a public contribution record
Senior Python developer who also writes frontendOpen-Source Python EngineerBachelor’s or equivalent, 5 years of professional Python, JavaScript or TypeScript
Senior engineer who has shipped realtime audio or videoVoice Agents engineerOwning architecture, realtime systems, models in production
Built something public that fits no postingWild CardPassion for open source and “something awesome” to show
No coding backgroundNot Hugging Face’s board todayContract AI training work is a different market

If you are in the last row, the contract side is where most entry routes into AI work sit, and the AI rater jobs guide covers it. For other company boards read the same way, see the OpenAI careers guide, the Cohere careers breakdown and the Google DeepMind jobs count.

One warning, written straight. Every real Hugging Face opening on October 10, 2026 sat on its Workable board, so an offer for a role that is not there is unverified until you find it. Google’s November 2025 scams advisory says fraudsters pose as well known companies with fake career pages and recruiter profiles, and that a legitimate company will never require upfront payments or training fees. The Telegram recruiter hiring for Hugging Face, Nvidia and three banks in the same week is not working from that board.

Before you apply anywhere, the match quiz is a quick way to see whether a salaried engineering role or contract AI work suits your background now, and our work board is free and public, with no signup, listing screened AI work every day.
